Kumite Classic Martial Arts Events

Purpose

The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to ensure a safe, professional, respectful, and sportsmanlike environment for all athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and spectators. Our events prioritize youth safety, integrity, and excellence in martial arts.

Participation in this event constitutes agreement to abide by the standards outlined below.

  1. General Conduct

All coaches and athletes agree to:

  • Demonstrate respect toward referees, officials, staff, competitors, and spectators.
  • Exhibit sportsmanship in both victory and defeat.
  • Follow all rules and directives from tournament officials.
  • Refrain from abusive, threatening, harassing, or discriminatory behavior.
  • Avoid use of profanity, intimidation, or unsportsmanlike gestures.
  • Comply with all venue policies and safety regulations.
  1. SafeSport & Athlete Protection

The safety of minors and vulnerable participants is our highest priority.

All coaches must:

  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times.
  • Avoid one-on-one isolated interactions with minors in private areas.
  • Refrain from inappropriate physical contact.
  • Immediately report suspected abuse, misconduct, or unsafe behavior to event staff.
  1. Criminal Background & Eligibility Policy

To protect the integrity and safety of all participants:

  • Any individual with a conviction for a sex offense of any kind, registered sex offender status, or any crime involving sexual misconduct, exploitation of a minor, or child endangerment is strictly prohibited from accessing the event. This includes but is not limited to the venue, competition floor, coaching areas, athlete warm-up zones, or any restricted participant areas.
  • Individuals with such convictions may not serve in any official, coaching, volunteer, or athlete capacity at the event.
  • Event organizers reserve the right to conduct background verification where applicable.
  • Any falsification of information regarding criminal history will result in immediate removal from the venue without refund.

Event organizers reserve the right to deny access or participation to any individual whose background, conduct, or behavior is deemed a safety risk to participants.

  1. Zero Tolerance Policy

The following behaviors will result in immediate removal from the event:

  • Physical or verbal assault
  • Harassment or bullying
  • Sexual misconduct or inappropriate behavior
  • Interference with officials
  • Entering restricted competition areas without proper credentials
  • Violating the Criminal Background & Eligibility Policy

Removal decisions are final and at the sole discretion of event management.

  1. Social Media & Public Representation

Coaches and athletes represent their schools and organizations at all times. Participants agree to:

  • Avoid defamatory or inflammatory public statements regarding officials, competitors, or the event.
  • Represent martial arts with integrity and professionalism.
  1. Compliance & Enforcement

Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in:

  • Warning
  • Credential revocation
  • Disqualification
  • Removal from venue
  • Suspension from future events

Event staff and security reserve full authority to enforce these standards.

  1. Acknowledgment & Agreement

By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. I understand that failure to comply may result in immediate removal and possible prohibition from future events.

Kumite Classic / Pittsburgh Power Martial Arts Events

  1. Authority of Event Management

Kumite Classic and its affiliated events are privately organized competitions. Event management reserves the absolute right, at its sole discretion, to deny entry, revoke credentials, restrict access, or remove any individual from the venue or event premises when deemed necessary to ensure the safety, integrity, and orderly operation of the event.

This right applies to athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, vendors, spectators, and any other individuals present.

  1. Safety-Based Denial of Entry

Entry or access may be denied or revoked for reasons including, but not limited to:

  • Violation of the Event Code of Conduct
  • Disruptive, threatening, or abusive behavior
  • Failure to follow venue or event policies
  • Providing false or misleading information during registration
  • Conduct that compromises the safety or well-being of participants
  1. Criminal Background & Athlete Protection Policy

In furtherance of youth protection and participant safety:

  • Any individual who is a registered sex offender, or who has been convicted of a sex offense, sexual misconduct involving a minor, exploitation of a minor, or child endangerment offense, is strictly prohibited from accessing the event in any capacity.
  • Event management reserves the right to deny access or participation to any individual whose criminal history or documented conduct presents a safety risk to minors or other participants.
  • Event organizers may require attestation of eligibility and may conduct verification where appropriate and permitted by law.

This policy is implemented solely for participant safety and is not based on any protected classification under federal or state law.

  1. No Guarantee of Participation

Registration, payment of fees, or credential issuance does not guarantee the right to participate or remain on premises. Participation is conditional upon compliance with all event policies and safety standards.

  1. Enforcement & Removal

Individuals who violate this policy may be:

  • Immediately removed from restricted areas
  • Ejected from the venue
  • Disqualified from competition
  • Barred from future events

Removal decisions are final and made at the sole discretion of event management and venue security.

Refunds are not guaranteed in cases of policy violation or removal.

  1. Non-Discrimination Statement

This policy is enforced in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. Denial of entry will not be based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, or other legally protected classifications.

  1. Acknowledgment

By registering for or attending this event, individuals acknowledge and agree to comply with this policy and understand that failure to do so may result in removal without refund.

  • This event prioritizes minor protection and athlete safety.
  • I may be subject to background verification where permitted by law.

Criminal History Attestation

By clicking “Accept,” I certify that:

  • I am NOT currently listed on any state or federal Sex Offender Registry.
  • I have NOT been convicted of a felony involving sexual misconduct, sexual exploitation, child abuse, child endangerment, or any crime against a minor.
  • I have NOT been convicted of any offense that would reasonably pose a safety risk to minors or participants.
  • I have NOT been convicted of any crime against a minor.
  • I understand that falsification, omission, or misrepresentation may result in immediate removal and prohibition from future events.

I understand Event Management may conduct verification where permitted by law.
